Your support sustains us!
Click to DonateDear Friends of We Are the Seeds,
As we look forward to 2025, we are inspired by the opportunities ahead to further our mission of ensuring better representation of Indigenous peoples and cultures in the Northeast. Whether you are a long-time supporter or considering making your first gift, your support is critical to our success. Every contribution helps us expand our programs, reach new audiences, and make a lasting impact.
Reflecting on this fantastic year at We Are the Seeds, we are deeply grateful for the community that has embraced and supported our work. This year, we expanded our impact-producing programs like Seeds Studio Sessions for the Indigenous community of Philadelphia. Our art-making workshops connected communities across cultures and generations—from beadwork with Joy Tonepahhote to dance with Vaughnda Hilton to basket weaving with Tchin. We loved sharing these experiences with everyone who participated.
We also engaged in important collaborations. Zachariah Julian, Seeds’ Digital Media & Artistic Producer, worked with The Library Company to create a profound performance called Project Obtuse for the Beyond Glass Cases project. This powerful work used color, sound, and movement to confront a dark chapter in the history of Indigenous peoples in America, offering a renewed vision of Indigenous sovereignty and continuance.
In partnership with Dawn and Cassius Spears of Ashawaug Farm and NDN Collective, Seeds proudly brought The Ashawaug Project to life, a two-year initiative focused on Indigenous food and land sovereignty. This project has been an impactful journey, inspiring deeper connections between people and the land through art, educational programs, and celebrating Indigenous foodways. As The Ashawaug Project comes to a close, we reflect on the meaningful conversations and learning it has catalyzed, and we’re grateful for the community that has gathered around this work.
Our media team has also been thriving. We launched Season 4 of our podcast From Here, With a View, which features compelling conversations with Indigenous leaders like New York Times bestselling author Tommy Orange and explores critical topics such as habitat restoration of the Klamath River and traditional medicines, allowing us to amplify our efforts in breaking down systemic barriers.
A highlight of our year was celebrating five incredible years of We Are the Seeds Philly. To honor this milestone, we curated a weekend of presentations, workshops, and exhibits at Cherry Street Pier, including our first-ever pow-wow featuring Indigenous dancers and singers from across the Northeast. It was a powerful gathering of community, creativity, arts, and cultures.
Looking ahead, your support can help us continue building on this success. By donating, you enable us to expand our programs, reach wider audiences, and create meaningful opportunities for Indigenous artists and communities. Your generosity makes our vision of celebrating and uplifting Indigenous cultures a reality.
Thank you for supporting We Are the Seeds. We look forward to celebrating Indigenous arts, cultures, and joy with you in 2025.
With deep gratitude,
Tailinh Agoyo, Director/ We Are the Seeds
